Dr. Fadhel Qahtan Aldhahyani, Dr. Abdullah Ali Al-Eryani

Abstract
This study aims to investigate the impact of ideology on the English translations of Kanafani’s The Land of Sad Oranges by Dr. Nejmeh Khalil Habib and Hilary Kilpatrick and the strategies used in their translations. To achieve this objective, eight sentences containing ideologically-sensitive expressions with their translations were selected. The two translations of the eight expressions were compared and contrasted. The study results revealed that the ideologies of both translators influenced the translation product and unveiled the highly emotive and ideological tendency of the two translators in rendering the ideologically-sensitive expressions. Both Dr. Nejmeh Khalil Habib and Hilary Kilpatrick attempted to inject their translations with their beliefs and political thoughts. In addition, Kilpatrick tried to domesticate the source language text while Nejmeh Khalil used transference and modulation to foreignize the text to preserve its identity.
